Insulator use
The insulator of the overhead line is used to support the wire. It is combined with the fitting to fix the wire on the tower and reliably insulate the wire from the tower. The insulator not only has to bear the working voltage during operation, but also withstands the operation overvoltage and lightning. The role of voltage, combined with the mechanical load of the wire's own weight, wind, ice and snow and environmental temperature changes, so the insulator must not only have good electrical insulation properties, but also have sufficient mechanical strength. The high-voltage pin insulator is mostly used on the 10kV linear pole tower. The top has a slot type. The wire is placed in the slot type for binding. It mainly bears the downward pressure of the wire. It is easy to manufacture and install, but has low lightning resistance and easy flashover. It is mainly used for On a 10kV line, or on a straight rod with little wire pull.
Insulator classification
Insulators can be classified by voltage class, materials used and function(1) According to the structure, it can be divided into pin insulators, rod insulators and suspension insulators.

(3) According to the materials used, it can be divided into porcelain insulators, tempered glass insulators and composite insulators.
